Letters written at Albany, N.Y. and Washington, D.C. to his aunt, Jennie Scott, Delaware County, N.Y. Lamont writes in 1883 "...that I have been appointed Private Secretary to Governor Cleveland." In 1892 letter he writes that "I hope you have not believed the absurd newspaper stories about my sickness-I am simply neither very sick nor very well but I am getting better." Also writes about his father's death and mother's illness.
